Allied Microbiota launched from a microbiology lab at Columbia University where Ray Sambrotto applied new microbiological approaches to emerging environmental problems. We scour the immense diversity of our planet’s microbial life to find the best strains for specific environmental challenges. Our microbial allies destroy environmental contaminants and turn waste streams into useful products.

Microbes support life on our planet by managing the recycling of carbon and nutrients and they are the key to better management of man-made wastes as well. Allied Microbiota improves these microbial processes and scales them to address our growing environmental problems cost-effectively. We are committed to removing environmental contaminants from our supply chains to support the next industrial revolution.

Our FastBac Technology

The biomanufacturing of the microbes and microbial products our clients need to address their environmental challenges at the commercial scale is our core mission. We use proven fermentation methods as well as new approaches optimized for specific microbes and bioproducts.

Our platform technology is built to accelerate the discovery and development process using a combination of microbial knowledge, bioinformatics, and high-throughput screening. We continually identify and characterize new strains for our FastBac line of contaminant degrading bacteria to meet the environmental needs of our clients.

This R&D work leads to the biomanufacturing of the microbes and microbial products our clients need to address their environmental challenges at the commercial scale. We use proven fermentation methods as well as new approaches optimized for specific microbes and bioproducts.

Allied Microbiota is committed to finding the solutions to our environmental challenges using safe, cost-effective biological approaches. Our products can be distributed from centralized bioproduction plants. We also can install fermentation equipment at our clients’ sites to provide continuous supplies to their biotreatment cells.

Meet the Team

Ray Sambrotto, Founder and CEO, Allied Microbiota

Ray spent most of his career as an environmental microbiologist at Columbia University where he was a Lamont Associate Research Professor. He stepped out of academia to operationalize his expertise in microbial ecology to address growing environmental challenges and develop more effective remedial options in the commercial sector. He started Allied Microbiota in 2017.

Bill founded five successful companies that span BioTechnology, Pharma, Ag/Food, Medtech, and environmental industries before forming Emerging Fund Consultants. Several of these companies achieved successful exits via IPO, acquisition and merger.

As an executive at TRS Group, Mark works closely with its research and development team and has extensive experience applying thermal remediation technologies for emerging contaminants, including PFAS, 1,4-dioxane and energetic compounds.
